Hypnotic Motion 3: Nebula Veil, mystical vocal deep house

Hypnotic Motion 3 is two hours of mystical vocal deep house for slow nights and long drives. It keeps the sound of the first Hypnotic Motion: a rounded four-on-the-floor kick at 108 BPM in D minor, a warm syncopated bass over a low pedal note, rolling shakers and interlocking hand percussion, shadowy pads and suspended chords that barely move. One breathy female alto sings in clear English, unhurried, with a distant wordless voice answering her.

We wrote every song around one small thing a woman keeps so she can leave before morning, and the dawn when she lets it go. An earring back lost in warm sheets. A wristwatch laid face down on the sill. A key left standing in the lock so any man can let himself out. Each refrain starts as a way out and ends as a reason to stay. In The Earring in the Sheets the chorus "Leave it in the sheets" first helps her vanish before dawn; by the last verse she takes off the other earring herself and sings "I am staying a little longer". In The Zip Between My Shoulders a wife who has dressed alone for twenty years lets her husband draw the zip down one tooth.

Anora, an original Signal Art character, holds the screen in Nebula Veil. This is a Living Loop, a format created by Signal Art: one character inside a world built for the album, moving without a seam for the whole programme. Anora is a cosmic muse with icy silver hair and a thin ribbon of star-dust and sapphire crystal running from her left temple to her collarbone. In close portraits she lowers her gaze, traces her collarbone and turns over one shoulder, while smoke ribbons drift and the rim light travels from sapphire through violet and rose-gold and home again.

Put it on for a night drive or a late, quiet hour.

Leave it in the sheets

I am staying a little longer

Leave the zip between my shoulders

A small room beneath the stars

Hypnotic Motion 3: Nebula Veil places the decision to stay against an immense visual distance.

A scarf wound twice and a key turned from inside give closeness a domestic vocabulary. The surrounding stars do not make these gestures insignificant. They make their chosen scale more striking: two people building a habitable space within something vast.

The intimate voice and warm musical ground suggest that belonging is made through attention, not guaranteed by proximity. A drawer emptied for another person may say more about commitment than a promise with no place to put its everyday consequences.

A question to carry: What small space have you made for another person's life?
