Green Glass Drive: guitar funky house for the golden hour
Green Glass Drive is 46 minutes of original guitar funky house for the golden hour. Ten instrumental tracks start on the full groove from the first second, at 122 to 124 BPM: a strong four-on-the-floor kick, an elastic bass, crisp hand percussion, warm Rhodes and restrained sunset pads. A prominent electric rhythm guitar carries every hook, and there is no voice anywhere. The melody does the talking, bittersweet and warm, with one earned lift near the end of each track.
Each track still keeps a small story in its title and its scene. Half Past Gold finds two cups inside the last ring of sun. The Chair Across from Mine watches an empty chair learn the evening. Seven Minutes of Summer waits beside summer rain, We Kept the Door Between Us leaves a blade of green light at closing time, and Morning Found the Table covers both sides of the table at last.
The picture is one continuous photographic journey through an unnamed Mediterranean coastal city, with no people in frame. A green-gold reflection travels from a harbour cafe through a terrace, a rooftop, summer rain, a bookshop, a garden bar, a crossing and an empty dance floor, then back to the same cafe in the morning. Time moves once, from late golden afternoon through sunset and rain-dark night to clean morning light, and it never turns back.
Part of our Feel Good House Mix series, it is made for dancing, driving, work and sunset listening.
