The Chair in Sunlight

Signal Art · A closer reading

Room beside the empty chair

The Chair in Sunlight lets absence and a living garden occupy the same room.

The Persian refrain keeps the chair more empty than the space around it. Looking toward the garden does not refill that seat or declare its loss finished.

The final change makes room for grief beside the person who remains. Renewal can be read as an enlargement of the room's possibilities, allowing sorrow to stay without requiring it to be the only thing that can be seen.

A question to carry: What could grow beside your grief without replacing it?

grief · renewal · acceptance
