Mirage House locates tenderness in the labour that makes other lives possible.
The programme's emphasis on ordinary work offers an answer to the title's uncertainty. A mirage promises shelter without substance; patient care provides substance without announcing itself as a promise. The difference is felt through repeated, useful acts.
The low cello and intimate voice make endurance personal rather than heroic. One can read the collection as a defence of people whose effort is easily mistaken for background, asking what changes when that background becomes the centre of attention.
